Years ago YEARS AGO I played Benjamin Britten’s Nocturnal for the first time. The masterpiece shaped my career for it sparked an obsession with English modern and contemporary music that is the driving force of my musical life. The English landscape and the seas of our coast strongly influence my work, yielding a rich harvest of stories, poetry and inspiration. My playing style, described by the Independent as ‘intensely lyrical’, has been shaped by my vocal training at the Royal Academy and through many concerts as a guitarist with great singers including Michael Chance and Robin Tritschler.”
