Britten CentenaryBRITTEN CENTENARY

James Boyd on guitar The Britten centenary is a landmark in the cultural calendar and I am pleased to be able to offer a range of programmes to venues marking the event.

Britten's Nocturnal after John Dowland was the single biggest influence on my career, shaping the direction of my work for years. It is not played very often but 2013 offers numerous opportunities to programme this masterpiece.

My production Sea Change, inspiring a new repertoire for the guitar, will be ongoing throughout the centenary year and conclude in the winter of 2013. Starting and ending at Aldeburgh it is an adventure inspired, in part, by Britten and the influence of the sea in his music.

In addition to the unique adventure of Sea Change I will be playing a solo recital programme that is particularly relevant to the Centenary; a concert of music I recorded at Snape Maltings for my album Shapes of Sleep.

Duo recitals with programmes relevant to the Centenary are possible with the tenor Robin Tritschler and countertenor Michael Chance.
